Thank you all that have supported the documentary film and cookbook, Soufra. Through your generosity, the Narwas school has opened in the Burj El Banarjneh refugee camp just south of Beirut, Lebanon. The film’s subject, Mariam Shaar, set out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful food truck business with a team of fellow refugee women. Through their hard work and success, they were able to open a school for the children in the camp. Mariam made her dream a reality. If you saw the film, Soufra, you may recognize this young man. He is pictured on the left in the film. The photo on the right was taken on his first day of school with his new backpack and bowtie. Congratulations to all involved with this project!
